What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a gentle, effective and non invasive natural health modality which could support you to heal issues, injuries and illnesses at the root cause.

If you are someone who values allied health and would choose to see an Osteopath, Chiropractor, Physiotherapist, Nutritionist, Naturopath, Herbalist or Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor then kinesiology may also be an aligned choice for you. There are many paths to Rome and a kinesiologist could play a supportive role in helping you to create lasting change in your life.

In kinesiology we work on the principle that the body has an innate intelligence and the capacity to self heal. A practitioner will support you to remove the blocks that allow your body to reconnect with this innate capacity to heal from any and everything that is not optimal in your life.

We also see things holistically. Rather than working from a framework that says the body is separate from the mind and emotions, your therapist can help you understand that it is all one interconnected web. For this reason, in any one session we may work with the body (muscles, brain function etc), emotions, mind and thought patterns as well as your energetic body and spirit.

For example, say you go through a break up and are experiencing heartache. Then suddenly you wake up one day experiencing back pain too. Whilst you may not link these things together initially, in a session your body will expertly guide us to unravel all of the interconnected stress. In this case, emotionally in the heart, in the nervous system which is signalling to your back and muscularly because the muscles are holding it all in place.

To treat only the back would increase the chances that the pain will come back and to treat only the emotion may leave the nervous system in a state of confusion meaning the back pain could be prolonged.

Kinesiology is backed in science and originated from chiropractics. You can read more about this in the blog “The origins of kinesiology.”
